Lo schioppettino di Prepotto: the essence of this place
Schioppettino is the indigenous red grape that encapsulates the characteristics of our area. It has ancient origins, as proven by documents that place it in the little commune of Prepotto as long ago as 1282.
Known locally also by the names Ribolla Nera or Pokalça, Schioppettino has had a rather tormented history, even risking extinction. In 2008 the “Schioppettino di Prepotto” subzone was recognised within the Friuli Colli Orientali D.O.C.. Finally, Prepotto could boast its own “Cru”, establishing its position as one of the outstanding sites for wine production in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
